Live the summer better with Ayurveda

The strength of our digestive fire is the opposite of the strength of the sun

In fact this digestive fire Agni powerful in winter, naturally diminishes in summer, when the sun is at its zenith!

For this reason, in summer, the body does not require as many calories as in the cold season.

During the summer, the Pitta dosha tends to quickly become unbalanced. A Pitta imbalance can be expressed in different ways. On a physical level, due to hot flashes, significant fatigue, skin that will tend to redden and cause acne. On an emotional level, an excess of Pitta will manifest itself in a tendency to anger, jealousy and impatience.

To balance pitta:

During the summer, we must avoid foods that are too salty or spicy (spicy or acidic) that tend to dehydrate us. We also avoid coffee, alcohol, garlic and onion that increase Pitta.

It is necessary to adopt a lighter diet so as not to overload the digestive system; bitter, astringent and sweet foods that calm the heat in the body are recommended.
Always as per constitution Prakriti or Doshas All sweet and juicy summer fruits are welcome! Green vegetables with leaves, stems, refreshing herbs such as coriander, mint, fennel, anise...
Avoid eating too many raw vegetables or other raw foods (except ripe fruits), especially if your digestion is naturally quite weak or slow. Feel free to lightly steam all the vegetables under the oven rack...and enjoy with a drizzle of cold-pressed olive oil scented with fresh herbs.

To stay hydrated, we opt to drink cool but not ice cold, so as not to block digestion/put out the digestive fire.

At the end of the day, after the beach...for reddened skin in the sun, apply aloe vera gel, the friend of pitta
